The Mont de Grange (2432 m) is one of the most famous of the Massif du Chablais. At its summit, you will discover a view on the whole valley of Abondance, the mountains of the region, the lake of Geneva and the Mont-Blanc.
The Mont de Grange is a nature reserve of 3 000 ha, classified Natura 2000. It is also a hunting reserve where deer, chamois, roe deer, mouflons, marmots, black grouse, ptarmigan, golden eagles... You can easily observe them early in the morning.
This hike also invites you to discover the wild flora such as the martagon lily, the paradise lily, the alpine columbine, the gentians or the genepi.
This difficult hike starts in Saint Théodule at the place called Follebin in Abondance. You will walk along the Saint Théodule chapel.
You will then take the direction of the alpine chalets of Bailly and Jouly, a road that overlooks the Plagnes lake and offers a magnificent view of Entre-Deux-Pertuis and the Roc de Tavaneuse.
You will then reach the chalets of Lenlevay, where the Abondance cows enjoy the mountain pastures during the summer season.
You will then take the GR5 path in the direction of the Chapelle and then the Coincon ridge, a fairly steep path that will take you to the summit of the Mont de Grange. An orientation table allows you to discover the different summits of the French and Swiss Alps and the Jura.
